The proposals by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for the composition of the official caretaker cabinet include three changes - the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
President Rumen Radev will issue decrees tomorrow for the appointment of the cabinet and for holding early elections on October 27. By the end of the week, the official cabinet must submit the Bulgarian proposal for a European Commissioner. Dimitar Glavchev expects the people's representatives to make their proposals for this candidacy, BGNES reported.
Dimitar Glavchev, nominated for a second term as caretaker prime minister, presented the staff of the new cabinet to President Rumen Radev.
The caretaker government will have one deputy prime minister. This will be Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova.
Glavchev has made three personal changes in the new government. The first is the Minister of the Interior. Atanas Ilkov has been proposed for this post, replacing Kalin Stoyanov, whose candidacy was most opposed by "Continuing the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" and because of whom President Rumen Radev refused to issue a decree appointing the cabinet with Prime Minister Gorica Grancharova-Kozhareva last Monday.
Regarding the nomination of Atanas Ilkov, current director of the National Police, Glavchev stated: We started from there, that he must be a professional from the system. It turned out that there are not many applicants for high ministerial positions in the Ministry of Interior. There are another 4-5 such main directorates and there was no one.
The second change is the appointment of a new Minister of Foreign Affairs. The post will be taken over by the former Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov. Thus, Dimitar Glavchev will no longer combine this post with that of Prime Minister. "I can't reconcile any more posts. You see that the international situation is about to become more complicated, and you need someone to deal with it. Mr. Kondov earned my trust," Glavchev explained the change.
The third change is in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, where Krasimira Stoyanova was appointed. She replaces Georgi Gvozdeikov, who entered Glavchev's first official cabinet from the regular Denkov-Gabriel government and also caused irritation in the We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-(WCC-DB). Glavchev linked the change in the Ministry of Transport to the failures in BDZ, in recent days we have seen significant cases of accidents, including a locomotive on fire. "Each minister is responsible for the situation in his department," he explained.
Dimitar Glavchev is adamant that there should be no political vacillation, especially in an official cabinet.
Here is the structure of the MS proposal:
Prime Minister - Dimitar Glavchev
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance - Lyudmila Petkova
Minister of Foreign Affairs - Ivan Kondov

President Rumen Radev congratulated Glavchev for heeding the "calls and expectations of society" to reduce political tension and strengthen the guarantees for holding fair parliamentary elections, which is also "the main task under the Constitution of the caretaker government".
"By the provisions of the Constitution, tomorrow morning I will issue a decree for the appointment of your proposed government. I expect that he will be sworn in before the National Assembly on the same day. Also, tomorrow I will issue a decree to hold early parliamentary elections on October 27," the head of state said.
He pointed out that along with the primary task of fighting the bought vote, the government should make efforts to solve people's problems, as well as to ensure the normal functioning of the state and deepen European integration.
"We all see that the lack of water is tormenting thousands of Bulgarian citizens and requires urgent measures," emphasized Radev. He also stated that the fight against natural disasters, such as fires, continues, but we must also be prepared for possible floods.
Radev recalled that we are also in a complex geopolitical situation after the escalation of military actions both to the North and to the South of Bulgaria. "They require increased vigilance and adequate measures," the Bulgarian president added. |BGNES
