Bulgaria votes early for the second time this year

 On 27 October, Bulgaria will elect a parliament for the seventh time since 2021.

This will be the second early parliamentary elections this year, a BGNES reports.

Polling stations will open at 7.00 a.m. and voting will continue until 8.00 p.m., or until those waiting to vote run out. Currently, the total number of polling stations in the country is 12,879, which includes the 293 PSECs that have been opened, as well as 209 polling stations in hospitals.

The elections on 27 October will be contested by 19 parties, 9 coalitions and 1 independent candidate who will fight for 240 seats in the Bulgarian Parliament.

In the sixth elections on 9 June 2024, 32 political formations took part - 20 parties, one independent candidate and 11 coalitions. In election number 5 on 2 April 2023, 14 parties and 7 coalitions participated.

6 601 262 people were voters on the electoral rolls prepared by the General Directorate of Electoral Affairs.

Candidates for MPs total 4,855. 1 377 women and 3 478 men. 1 176 persons are candidates from two districts. This brings the total number of candidates to 6 031. In 9353 polling stations voting will be done by machines. Both paper ballots and machines can be used in polling stations with more than 300 voters. Within the country, 9353 polling stations will be open to machine voting, while 157 polling stations will be open to voting outside the country. There are no polling stations with two machines, there is 1 SWEMG everywhere. Outside the country, a total of 719 polling stations in 57 states will be voting, 157 of them will be voting by machine.
