Boyko Borisov: The best way to get Sofia back is to lose it

"These elections are a punishment for the entire political class. Such a low voter turnout and so few voted. Each of us, and the analysts, should draw a conclusion as to why we are going down like this."

This was stated in Plovdiv by the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov, reported the correspondent of BGNES.

In his first public appearance before the media after the vote on Sunday, Borisov commented that over 537,000 voters across the country voted for GERB, and 273,000 for "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria".

"Before the local elections, I said that the main goal of GERB is to be the first political force. The power of one party is the whole country. In 95 municipalities the candidates for mayors of GERB won", announced Borisov.

According to him, the low voter turnout was mainly due to the school holidays, during which many people were in the countryside.

When we won the elections in Sofia, we won them with over 200 thousand votes. Now "We Continue the Change" and Democratic Bulgaria together have 119 thousand. That's half of what we've been earning in those 18 years. Of course we made mistakes. But the elections in Sofia are not over yet. The results of GERB are excellent against the background of the others, states Boyko Borisov.

All parties are going down, even Revival is going down. In Sofia, there was a targeted attack by everyone against Yordanka Fandakova and GERB for three years, Borisov also said.

According to him, "the best way to get Sofia back is to lose it. Now we will save Sofia from the rescuers".

"For me, the result for Sofia is expected and deserved. There is nothing worse than doing something unsolicited. We in Sofia are running for regional mayors, and as Anton Hekimyan said - state property is better than state security. Let our parties vote according to their conscience", concluded Boyko Borisov. /BGNES
