GERB is the clear winner of these elections. All are potential partners except "Revival". I will govern with everyone who supports our program.
This is what the leader of GERB Boiko Borisov said, BGNES reported.
Borisov emphasized that with this higher voter turnout one can talk more calmly about the legitimacy of the new parliament.
"From today on we are committed to make a government. The victory of GERB and SDS is categorical. If we are guided by the maxim that the people's vote is God's vote, it is good that all the leaders sleep and that no one, including us, outperforms their electoral result," he said.
With such an outright victory, GERB may accept to form the government but in any case it will not replace the people's vote.
"Our programme, which the people voted for, will be basic for all those who want to have a government. We will not be guided by incantations," Borisov said, adding that as early as today some had begun to set conditions with "trembling voices". He said a party that is a clear winner should not have to reckon with those that are twice as small. "This is neither beautiful nor fair," he noted.
Borisov thanked all Bulgarian citizens who went to vote. "And to the trembling voices of anguish and anger and resentment, I will tell them it is not beautiful either. Let them comply with the people. With those hundreds of thousands who are behind us," he said.
"A lot of transformations can take place. Parliament is mathematics. The number of parties matters enormously, although I have always thought that the lower limit of both coalitions and political parties should be raised. Because if all the parties get in, I know from now that there will be no government," he warned.
Asked who GERB's potential partners are, Borisov answered: "I will govern with anyone who supports our programme. Everyone is a potential partner except Revival." I BGNES
