BGN 526 will be the poverty line in Bulgaria in 2024, the government decided. Its value will increase by BGN 22 or by 4.4% compared to 2023.
The new size of the poverty line will have a beneficial impact on the vulnerable and the lowest income groups of the population. As it increases, value-linked social benefits and financial support paid under the Social Assistance Act, the Disability Act and the Child Protection Act will increase.
Raising the poverty line will improve social protection for vulnerable groups, as more people and families in need will receive state support. /BGNES
