BGN 250 million was allocated for the energy workers, the unions are satisfied, but according to them it is only a "partial solution"

In the familiar scenario, we react to problems bequeathed to us. We have taken measures within our competence. We have signed a decree of the Council of Ministers and a decision of the Council of Ministers, which were for BGN 200 million from the state budget to enter the capital of Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and from there into the capital of "Maritsa Iztok". To align with the decision adopted by the people's representatives, today we will supplement with new decrees the decision of the Council of Ministers for another 50 million BGN.

This was stated by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev after the meeting with the representatives of the energy companies, BGNES reported.

The financial condition of "Maritsa Iztok" has deteriorated, as of today it has BGN 600 million in accounts, and BGN 27 million per month is spent on salaries. There is no resource for recovery, said acting Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov.

I thank Prime Minister Glavchev for providing this resource, Malinov pointed out. We have a decision for another 50 million for this year, he added.

The funds are directed to Maritsa Iztok mines because now there is little compensation for them. I hope this will provide some opportunity for stabilization, added KT Podkrepa president Dimitar Manolov. Naturally, this cannot be a final decision, we will think about balance, he added.

Malinov added that the control and everything else will be done with the unions so that everything can be done most efficiently.

KNSB said that they are satisfied with the resource for Maritsa Iztok. There will be a breath of fresh air for the enterprises, but if we have to, we will go out again to look for further solutions, I hope we don't have to, added KNSB Vice President Ognyan Atanasov. We remain in combat readiness, he also commented.

The market situation is one of the reasons for the financial crisis of "Maritsa East" mines.

But also in 2022 electricity prices were very high and this affected the financial results of Mini Maritsa Iztok, said Malinov.

Dimitar Manolov clarified that this is certainly a temporary solution and emphasized that a sustainable solution cannot be found today. After 6 caretaker governments, only God can say what will happen. What happened today is not a decision, but a decision, explained Manolov.

I hope that the resource of 250 million BGN will be included in the budgets for the following years as well, explained Minister Malinov. /BGNES
