Bulgaria and Turkey are friends, neighbors, and partners in NATO. Our cooperation is multilateral, complex and ambitious.
That was said by H.E.Mr Angel Cholakov, Bulgaria's ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, in an interview with BGNES on the occasion of the gala tour of the Sofia Opera and Ballet in Ankara and Istanbul, which was held on November 8 and 11.
Bulgaria greets Turkey: Happy Centenary of the Republic!" was the motto of the gala tour. "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini was presented.
"Our cooperation is multilateral, it's complex and ambitious. There is intensification of the bilateral relations. Trade, economic investment, tourism and culture, as a powerful rocket carrier, are just the dimensions of this intensification", Cholakov said.
He emphasized that the gala opera tour is a powerful message of congratulation on the occassion of Turkey's centenary, the proclamation of the Republic.
"It's a show of friendship and solidarity. It is also a message to all of the creators, all people that are engaged in cultural activities, that this type of ambitious grand projects should continue to be organized in the future."
The bulgarian ambassador added that In the opera "Tosca" one can see art, love and politics. "We have celebration, positivism and passion, but most of all we have powerful nobel feelings. This summarises pretty well our relations with neighbouring and friendly Turkey", Cholakov noted.
"Tosca" was one of Kamal Ataturk' favourites during his stay in Sofia (1913-1915). Ataturk, as a military attaché in the bulgarian capital, was a regular spectator of the performances of the Bulgarian Opera Society. Later he became the founder of the Republic of Turkey. /BGNES
