A queue of citizens at the grave of the late Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte

Citizens worship at the tomb of the spiritual father of the Bulgarian people Patriarch Neophyte, BGNES reported.

From early dawn a queue of people has been forming in front of the St. Nedelya Cathedral. Bulgarians are paying tribute to their spiritual shepherd, who left us on March 13 after a long illness.

Patriarch Neophyte was sent on his last journey by Bulgarian society on Saturday. A funeral Mass and memorial service were celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky. They were attended by representatives of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, as well as Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and representatives of the local Orthodox Churches.

Afterwards, in a procession, the remains of our spiritual father were carried from St. Alexander Nevsky to St. Nedelya with the help of the same cannon carriage that carried the remains of King Boris III the Unifier in August 1943. Public opinion defines Patriarch Neophyte as a Unifier.

The grave of Patriarch Neophyte is located next to that of another great spiritual leader of the Bulgarians - Exarch Joseph I. / BGNES
