6 kg of cocaine for 1.5 million BGN was stopped at the "Kalotina" border crossing, as 2 days earlier 402 kg of heroin seized at the "Capitan Andreevo" border crossing worth 16 million BGN
On 20.04.2024, Turkish citizen B.K., who was driving a cargo combination with Turkish registration numbers and without a proper permit, brought across the border of the country from the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Bulgaria, a high-risk narcotic substance, namely cocaine, with a net weight of about 6 kg, distributed in two packages hidden in a specially built cache in the semi-trailer, the prosecutor's office announced.
The estimated value of the narcotic substance found is about BGN 1,500,000.
Two days earlier, on April 20, nearly 403 kg of heroin were detained at the border crossing during an inspection of a truck entering the country from Turkey, the BGNES correspondent reported.
Minister Stoyanov recalled that the revelation comes days after he ordered increased checks at border points with the participation of DG Border Police, GDBOP, Customs Agency and the National Narcotics Agency, which are currently being carried out at two border points. "The plan is open and at any moment the inspection teams can be redeployed to other points in the country," he added. Minister Stoyanov also stated that no information has been received from partner services about this amount of heroin. "We worked on the principle of "risk analysis". In order to analyze and sift out such a truck and such a load, you need to have a lot of experience and feel to judge the driver, what he is driving and the route", explained the minister.
He added that further investigative measures regarding international police cooperation are to come, but this is really a great success for all the services of the "Captain Andreevo" border post, with which we can congratulate ourselves. /BGNES
