Zhelyazkov: The fewer borders, the better for Bulgaria and North Macedonia

The fewer borders we have in a spiritual and physical sense, the better for us, for the Macedonians, and for the Balkans. This was stated by the chairman of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazkov, the special envoy of BGNES, Georgi Pashkulev reported from Skopje

Rosen Zhelyazkov bowed before the grave of Gotse Delchev in the church "St. Spas" in the capital of the Republic of Macedonia. "Gotse Delchev is our common hero. Such personalities and their work should unite our peoples, they should be an example to follow, they should be honored and not appropriated," Zhelyazkov said.

He said that in front of Gotse Delchev's grave, he prayed for all the heroes who sacrificed their lives and today they should be honored and an example to follow. "They should be an example that unites," Zhelyazkov emphasized. He described today's visit as part of a series of visits over the past 5 months aimed at building bridges. "These bridges should give the RS Macedonia opportunities to become a full member of the EU," he said.

According to Zhelyazkov, the achievements of the agreement on good neighborliness and cooperation between the two countries must be defended. During his visit today, issues related to the rights of the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Macedonia will also be discussed. "These are not new topics, but they are important topics for which we seek positive solutions, because it is easiest to close ourselves within our borders, but it is more difficult to defend the achievements we have," he said. Zhelyazkov pointed to the increased turnover, which for another year exceeded 1 billion euros, as a good example of good neighborliness. /BGNES
