Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received today for his birthday a congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, in which the Chinese leader sends him sincere congratulations and best wishes, stressing that Vucic is a politician who has a strategic vision and always looks after the interests of the people.
"I am glad that under your leadership, Serbia is standing up for independence and defending the national interest, while economic and social development and improving the living standards of citizens have seen outstanding results. As an old friend of the Chinese people, you have firmly advocated the improvement of Sino-Serbian relations and cooperation in various fields, for which I express my deep appreciation," the congratulatory message, published by the Serbian newspaper Politika said.
Xi recalled that he and Vucic had met last year during the Third Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum, discussing friendship, cooperation and reaching a broad consensus, setting the direction in the development of bilateral relations.
"I attach great importance to the development of relations between China and Serbia. I am ready to make joint efforts with you to raise the China-Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership to an even higher level and make further contributions to the two peoples.
