Xhaferi: The new speaker of the Macedonian parliament will be elected by January 20

From the middle of January, the legal procedures for the preparation for the election of a technical government will officially begin in North Macedonia, which must work on the realization of the parliamentary elections on May 8.

This was stated by the Speaker of the Parliament and future Prime Minister of the country, Talat Xhaferi.

How these procedures will be carried out will be known most likely from January 9, when the first discussions with the parliamentary groups for 2024 take place.

The new Speaker of the National Assembly, proposed by the Social Democratic Party (SDSM), will be elected by January 20. The candidate is Jovan Mitreski. Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Xhaferi will resign, and they will be voted on at an extraordinary session in the National Assembly.

According to Xhaferi, the new Speaker of the Parliament will be elected by January 20. The election of a technical government is scheduled for January 28.

BGNES recalls that the coalition partners from the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) proposed Talat Jafferi as a new "technical" prime minister in the last 100 days before the elections, according to the so-called contract from Parzhino and the coalition government agreement between SDSM and DSI. For the first time in the history of RSM, the Prime Minister will be an ethnic Albanian.

The first round of the presidential elections will be held on April 24, and the second round of the presidential and parliamentary elections on May 8. According to the scheduled dates, the elections will be announced on February 28 at the latest, and the technical government must be formed by January 28. /BGNES
