"We talked with Christian Mickoski about strengthening relations and joint initiatives for a more stable future for our citizens. We discussed economic and infrastructure projects, with a special focus on the construction of the Budapest-Belgrade-Skopje-Athens-Piraeus railway line, which will connect southern and central Europe, as well as improving trade and cooperation in the energy sector," Vucic said after the meeting.
The Serbian head of state expressed "gratitude for the fact that North Macedonia is one of the key partners in the Open Balkans initiative, which has become a symbol of strong regional cooperation and connectivity in the Western Balkans."
"Our common goal is a better future for all citizens, and cooperation through Open Balkans and other projects remains a solid foundation on which we are building the future of the whole region. I am confident that in the future we will continue to develop relations in a spirit of friendship and partnership," Vučić added on Instagram.
Mickoski said after the talks that "there are no open issues between the two countries, and relations are based on mutual respect and friendship."
"We need to create bridges for economic and political cooperation with all our neighbours and build a future for our citizens," he wrote on Facebook.
The Macedonian prime minister also met Serbia's Prime Minister Milos Vucevic.
"The intensive communication between the two governments opens the way for economic and political cooperation. The meeting was held in the spirit of the traditionally good relations between the two countries with a focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint regional projects. We discussed the improvement of cooperation in energy, economy and transport infrastructure, as well as joint efforts to address regional challenges," noted Christian Mickoski. | BGNES
