"I wish all the best to Montenegro, but I don't believe they will be part of the EU by 2028, and I don't believe we will be part of the EU in the same year," he said at the Globsec 2024 forum.
Vucic believes that EU interests occasionally diverge with Serbian interests. "We have different judgments about the future of the EU, but we all want to be part of the EU. We are not sure how things will develop in the EU member states. What is obvious at the moment is that Ukraine and Moldova have a chance, which is understandable, but at the same time there is a fatigue in the EU about enlargement," the Serbian president said.
He boasted of Serbia's achievements. "I am a pragmatist, not a big fantasist, and I am excited about Serbia's economic progress. We have successfully surpassed all the countries of the Western Balkans, and only 10 years ago we were in fourth place," Vučić was quoted as saying by state-run RTS television. | BGNES
