Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has promised Russian President Vladimir Putin that Belgrade will not impose sanctions on the Russian Federation, BGNES reports.
The two had a "friendly" phone conversation today. Vucic expressed special thanks to the Kremlin for "providing Serbia with sufficient quantities of gas at favourable prices". He pointed out that Putin repeated to him twice in the conversation, "What is good for Serbia is good for Russia. What is good for the Serbs is good for the Russians."
The Serbian president took notes during the conversation and "is yet to work on them".
Vucic has received an invitation from Putin to the World War II victory celebrations in Moscow on May 9 next year.
"Putin invited me in advance, since today is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade, to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism as president of the Republic of Serbia on May 9," Vucic said in Russian.
"I believe that the talks will help further develop relations between Russia and Serbia, not only for mutual support, but also for the development of trust between our peoples and countries. We talked as people who have known each other for a long time, as friends. The conversation, which lasted ten minutes, was marked by a personal note, and we also talked about who are weak leaders, who are such and such leaders. .. I am very grateful to Putin for this dose of personal treatment," Vucic said at the opening of an exhibition at the presidency.
"Putin, more than all Russian politicians, understands Serbia's position and its weight," he noted. | BGNES
