Vucic: There are no secrets between me and my brother Viktor Orban

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said that Hungary is a true friend and brotherly country, BGNES reports.

Vucic stressed that he talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Sziarto several times a week.

"There are no secrets between us. They ask me for whatever they need, I ask them for whatever we need. We don't have other friends so close, we don't talk to anyone like we talk to our Hungarian brothers. These are the values of ordinary people, nations that value family, that value the future, those who just want to be themselves in their own way, to keep their name and surname, their language, their letters. Without affecting anyone else, without endangering anyone else's rights," Vucic explained in the town of Palic at a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Union of Hungarians in Vojvodina.

"Today we have a common view of the world we live in, unconditional support and help in every moment we provide to each other," the Serbian president was quoted as saying by Politika.

Vucic pointed out that "such success would not have been possible" without the Union of Hungarians from Vojvodina, which has built "bridges between the President of Serbia and Viktor Orban".

"I looked at the numbers from 2007 and 2008, how many inter-ethnic incidents we had in the north of Serbia, in Vojvodina. I also looked at the numbers from 2022 and 2023. Do you know the difference? 16 to 1, we had 16 times more inter-ethnic incidents then than today," the Serbian head of state said, adding that he was proud of these results. | BGNES
