This is what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this morning, BGNES reports.
At his request, today is a Day of Mourning in Serbia for the mass murder in Cetinje, in Montenegro.
Speaking on state television early this morning, Vucic reiterated that Washington would introduce sanctions against the Serbian oil company /NIS/, which is owned by Gazprom.
"In all likelihood, we will receive the sanctions document around January 15, Friday or Monday," Vučić added about US sanctions against NIS.
"We have enough stocks. There will be no need to buy a single litre...There will be no oil crisis, even when it comes to the Army, which has increased its supplies by 100%. There are enough stocks of diesel and petrol to not import anything for 85 days. Oil is imported via the Adriatic pipeline - Serbia has a contract with Croatia, but this may not be possible when sanctions are imposed. I will discuss this issue with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic," Vučić added.
Asked if the state had money to buy back its stake in NIS, Vucic said:
"That is the question for the Americans. Serbia has money in its account to 'buy it back immediately' and that it is waiting for an answer when it comes to that and the terms are clear."
We don't know if the sanctions against NIS will remain if the Russians remain with 40% ownership or less than that percentage. We do not know whether it is enough for them to have no majority or controlling stake or to have no ownership. I said to them /to the Americans, ed./, "well, you want to pay off the Russians, but this money will be immediately available to them. For everything, including military needs'," Vucic said.
According to him, America does not want to punish Serbia, but "to turn it to its side."
"I expect Richard Grenell / Donald Trump's special envoy, ed./ to deal more with Serbia, as well as with Korea and Venezuela... For us, however, it is more important who will win the elections in Germany," the Serbian president added.
