Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic accused the former Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic of hatred towards Serbia, BGNES reported.
Djukanovic's opposition Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) won the most votes in Podgorica in the local elections (September 29). Party activists organized a celebration on the streets of the capital. The Serbian press declared that Djukanovic had an "anti-Serbian essence". The former prime minister was filmed in a nightclub celebrating and partying with altered lyrics to a Serbian song that read: "No one can do anything to us, we are stronger than Serbia".
Commenting on the video, Vucic said he and Djukanovic shared "the same obsession with Serbia".
"I saw it, it's interesting. Almost everything in our programs, plans, ideas is different, we think about everything differently, but we have one common obsession - we are both obsessed with Serbia. I love it, he hates it and I have no problem with this," Vucic said.
He added that he will continue to love his country, while Djukanovic "may continue to hate Serbia".
"I will love her even more, but at the same time I will respect Montenegro. No matter how much she sings and hates Serbia, she will move forward. I will not say a word against Montenegro. We thank them for showing us how obsessed they are with Serbia. They can sing whatever they want, and what we are doing speaks much more than any song against our country," continued the Serbian president, quoted by the official Politika.
BGNES recalls that in 2016, an attempted coup d'état was made in Montenegro in order to divert Podgorica from the path to NATO and the European Union.
Two Russian citizens Eduard Shishmakov and Vladimir Popov, eight Serbian citizens and Serbian leaders Milan Knežević and Andrija Mandić were preparing a violent change of government with the active support of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), according to the Special Prosecutor's Office. The aim was to overthrow and kill Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic. | BGNES
