Vucic: If God asks me what we have done to the Bulgarians, I won't know what to tell him

"If God asked me what we have done to the Bulgarians, I would not be able to explain it to him."

This is what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on the occasion of Bulgaria's objection, along with 7 other countries, to the opening of Cluster 3 of the EU accession process, BGNES reports.

The main reasons are Serbia's refusal to introduce sanctions against Russia and to align with EU foreign policy, problems with the rule of law and media freedom.

Vucic indicated that Hungary would schedule EU talks on this topic for next week.

"There is no doubt about that. There were 8 countries, Sweden, Finland and the Netherlands and of course Croatia and Bulgaria. If God asked us what we have done to the Bulgarians, I could not explain, but I understand everything about the Croats. It is important for us to talk to everyone," he stated.

The next debate on the opening of the cluster could take place on 11 December.

Aleksandar Vučić also said that as long as he is Serbia's president, for at least two more years of his current term, there will be no recognition of Kosovo's independence and Serbia will be militarily neutral.

He expressed hope that the Russian economy would withstand the war in Ukraine. | BGNES
