Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic rejected the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to the BRICS summit in October in the Russian city of Kazan, N1 TV reported.
Vucic said he would not go to Kazan for the summit because of "very important visits".
"I thank the BRICS people for the invitation and President Putin. We also have New York and I already know that I will have talks with at least six presidents and at least 7-8 prime ministers within the UN General Assembly," said the Serbian president.
The invitation to Vucic was extended by Putin during his meeting with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Vucic mentioned that the Serbian capital, Belgrade, is also celebrating 80 years since its liberation in World War II.
"Remember that October 20 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade and that the Red Army liberated the city with the help of our troops and brought freedom to the country along with all others who participated in the liberation," the Serbian president said. | BGNES
