We look forward to seeing you in the EU with your special identity and Macedonian language, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in X (former Twitter) after arriving in Skopje, Macedonian media reported.
"We look forward to welcoming you, in your special identity and in your language," Von der Leyen said, expressing her satisfaction that her tour of the Western Balkan countries over the next three days begins in Skopje.
She met with the president of RSM Stevo Pendarovski.
The meeting discussed the process of negotiations for the country's accession to the European Union, the current political events in North Macedonia and the current situation in the region.
In this direction, information was exchanged on the next stages of the negotiations after the completion of the screening process and on the dynamics of implementation of the reforms.
At the meeting, they discussed the forthcoming report of the European Commission on the progress of North Macedonia, as well as the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, during which President Pendarovski thanked for the support and commitment of the European Union to the policy of enlargement and integration of the countries of the Western Balkans.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the strategic importance of the implementation of the changes in the Constitution and the further consequences for the European perspective of the country. /BGNES
