President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on December 28 that Turkey's first deep-strike unmanned aerial vehicle has successfully completed its first flight and is the latest addition to the country's renowned drone fleet.
The debut of the next-generation aerial combat aircraft, dubbed the Anka-3, marks the latest significant advance in Turkey's defense capabilities, demonstrating the country's commitment to indigenous technological development in the field of combat unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Anka-3 reached an altitude of 8,000 feet during an hour and 10-minute flight, according to its developer and defense pioneer Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
It is the third member of TAI's Anka family of unmanned aerial vehicles and boasts several advantages, such as low radar visibility, and high-speed thanks to its jet engine and significant payload capacity.
"I hope our aircraft will make a significant contribution to the country's defense with its advanced technology, design, and features," Erdogan said on social media X, formerly known as Twitter.
The drone will be able to perform a variety of missions, such as reconnaissance, surveillance, and reconnaissance, armed with air-to-ground, air-to-air munitions and radar systems. It will be able to perform many tasks, such as operational and communication relay to other friendly formations./BGNES
