Today there will be protests and roadblocks all over Serbia. Students have called on citizens to go on a general strike. The demonstrations are against the authoritarian, corrupt and police regime of President Aleksandar Vucic, reports BGNES.
The Belgrade students will organise a "nature lesson" and block the roundabout near the Usche shopping centre. The plan is for some of the graduates to hold a fifteen-minute memorial service for the victims at exactly 11:52 when the train station visor fell in Novi Sad on 1 November. The visor had just been repaired by a Chinese company with a controversial reputation. The same company will be building more and more in Serbia thanks to support from Vucic.
The memorial service will take place at the intersection of Knyaz Milos and Nemanin Streets, after which participants will cross the Branko Bridge to Usce.
The second group of graduates will march from Zemun High School to the New Belgrade Municipality, where a 15-minute silence has been announced at 11:52 a.m., after which they will take Mihajlo Pupina Avenue to Usce, where they will meet other protesters.
From 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the roundabout at Usche will be blocked for 45 minutes for one school hour. There will then be a walk in New Belgrade, along the route from Usche to the New Belgrade Municipality. The graduates urged citizens to join them in the march and support them in this way. Some teachers are expected to join the graduates. Several institutes of the University of Belgrade will gather at 11 o'clock in Slavija Square and join the graduates.
As a sign of solidarity, some of the media will only report on the student protests and the general strike in the country. | BGNES
