The leadership of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPP) has called for a repeat vote in Belgrade.
This happened just hours after President Aleksandar Vucic called for new elections in the capital. The deputy chairman of SPP Alexander Shapich announced that "the campaign will start already on Sunday". He clarified that on Monday a party delegation will go to President Vučić to inform him that they have "the necessary majority to form a government".
BGNES reminds that in the month of December 2023 early parliamentary elections were held in Serbia and municipal elections in several places, including in Belgrade. The opposition disputes the legitimacy of the vote, particularly the one in Belgrade. /BGNES
