The situation on the border between Bulgaria and Greece is extremely complicated. Tonight, the wildfire entered Bulgarian territory and is currently burning about 200 meters from the border, reported the BGNES correspondent in the region.
The wildfire also overcame the 15-meter clearing that was made to limit it.
Yesterday, due to the wildfire, Greece also sent ground teams, but after deploying the hoses, they heard thunder and stopped operations. They assume that it is an exploded grenade.
There is no danger to people living near the border.
For more than 10 days, teams on both sides of the furrow have been unable to deal with the flames.
Yesterday, aeroplanes from France joined the extinguishing, after Bulgaria activated the EU disaster relief mechanism, which will continue to help in the next two days.
