Today the validity of documents with the name "Republic of Macedonia" in the neighboring Republic of North Macedonia expires.
The Macedonian Ministry of the Interior reminded citizens of the changes by the 2017 Prespa Agreement with Greece. According to the agreements, within 5 /five/ years, identity cards, passports, driver's licenses, and car registration numbers must be replaced with ones that include the new official name of the country - the Republic of North Macedonia.
Identity cards with the old name will continue to be accepted within the country, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not guarantee their validity for travel abroad.
The authorities urged citizens to change their old driver's licenses. /BGNES
