Lake Bled is one of the most visited natural and tourist destinations in Slovenia, BGNES reports.
A 10-hour drive from the center of Sofia, the fastest connection with Western Europe, also leads to the "heart of Slovenia", as the locals present it to foreigners. On the shore of the glacial lake, Bled Castle rises on a 130-meter cliff, and in the center of the lake is the only island in Slovenia.
The metal heart with the bench on the shore are the backdrop for hundreds of photos and selfies every day.
Legend has it that once a young widow, whose husband was killed by robbers, lived in Bled Castle. After the loss of her beloved, the woman collected all her gold and silver and had a bell cast for the chapel on the island in his memory. When the bell was taken to the island, however, a strong storm arose. The boat capsized, the boatman drowned, and the bell sank.
Legend has it that on quiet nights the bell can still be heard from the depths of the lake. /BGNES
