The European Commission approved the financing of a feasibility study for a second bridge over the Danube between Ruse and Gyurghevo

The European Commission has approved the financing of the feasibility study for a new bridge over the Danube River on the Ruse-Giurgiu route between Bulgaria and Romania, Romanian Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu said, BGNES reported.
The funding will be provided under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), in particular under the military mobility component.
Grindeanu announced the news after meeting with Kathleen Anne Kavalek, US ambassador to Romania, and George Tsunis, US ambassador to Greece, Romania Insider reported.

"We discussed regional connectivity along the north-south axis, with a focus on the links between Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, as well as road links such as the motorway to Moldova (Ploiesti-Siret border crossing), the Via Carpathia project (transnational motorway network connecting Klaipeda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece) within the framework of the Three Seas Initiative and rail links," the Romanian transport minister said.
Grindeanu has stressed the importance of the port of Constanta, which he said could become "an excellent link between logistics routes in Central, Western and Eastern Europe and Asia". / BGNES
