The Council of the European Union today decided to extend the framework for restrictive measures (sanctions) in view of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for another two years, until March 31, 2026, the bloc's press service announced.
Therefore, the EU will retain its ability to impose targeted restrictive measures on individuals or entities that undermine sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and international law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Restrictive measures may also be imposed against those who seriously threaten the security situation in the country or undermine the Dayton/Paris General Peace Framework Agreement.
Sanctions under this framework consist of asset freezes, funding bans and EU travel bans for individuals.
The initial decision of the Council of the EU was adopted on March 21, 2011 /BGNES
