Croatian President Zoran Milanovic will run for prime minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections in April, Hina announced.
Milanovic is convinced that after the vote, a majority of "national salvation" will be formed, after the victory of his Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The parliamentary elections in the Balkan country will be held on April 17, and the European elections on June 9.
BGNES reminds that the Croatian National Assembly was dissolved yesterday, March 14.
The decision comes as outgoing Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and his conservative Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party face mounting opposition accusations of corruption at the highest levels ahead of the vote.
Last month, thousands of protesters gathered in the Croatian capital to protest against the government and demand that this year's parliamentary elections be held as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister denies any wrongdoing. /BGNES
