NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stressed the importance of the Western Balkans today from Skopje. He reiterated that he sees no military danger to any NATO countries in the region, but he does perceive an uptick in tensions in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to a BGNES reporter.
"We are concerned about the developments in some of the region's countries, but the strength and importance of NATO must be recognized." We've been here for a long time. We have strengthened our presence in Kosovo, and we are, of course, cautious and continuously watching the situation. It is more about how to assist in the stabilization of our surrounding nations. "I find it very useful to sit down with all of the leaders from the region and prove and share our assessments," Stoltenberg said after a joint news conference following the informal meeting of NATO leaders from the region.
