VMRO-DPMNE candidate Gordana Silyanovska-Davkova is leading decisively in the first round of the presidential elections in North Macedonia with 37.07%, according to the first official results of the State Election Commission (SEC), reports BGNES.
In second place is incumbent head of state Stevo Pendarovski, nominated by the Social Democratic Union /SDSM/, who has 18.29%.
Third is Bujar Osmani (16.33%) from the Democratic Union for Integration /DSI/.
Then come Arben Taravari, from the coalition of Albanian opposition parties "It's Worth It" (12.07%), Maksim Dimitrijewski from ZNAM (7.87%), Biljana Vankovska from the Left Party (4.38%) and Stevcho Jakimovski, candidate of GROM, (0.97%).
These figures are based on 53.24 percent of the ballots processed. 966 000 people voted. The turnout was around 48% .
The support of more than 50% of the voters is needed to win. If this condition is not met, there will be a second round, which will be held on 8 May together with the parliamentary elections.
A total of 942 observers, including foreign journalists and interpreters, monitored the vote.
