He then added that this is why they had decided to strike in parliament, BGNES reports.
Speaking on Serbian television channel N1, he said the general strike was only the first step towards the establishment of an interim government and that "Serbia must stop here in order to free itself."
Milivojevic said that DS will not boycott the parliament as in 2018, 2019, 2020, but it will be the other way around.
"This is active opposition to the generation of violence, hatred and - provoking conflicts with students," he said.
The Presidency of the Democratic Party decided that the members of this party in the National Assembly will strike until the demands of the students are met and invited other opposition parliamentary parties to join them.
"We heard very well the demands of the students at that flamboyant protest in front of the RTC, you saw how loudly the students called for a general strike. I can't expect educators, professors, those who educate my sisters, my cousins, my friends and teachers to come out on a general strike in the schools without us as MPs supporting that. And this is support for student demands and unequivocally so. It says that we will actively participate in blocking the work of parliament and more. We must oppose those who generate hatred, who promote violence, who provoke conflict in the street and we know very well that these people will not give up," he said, adding that the regime has no intention of meeting the students' demands.
He also said that the general strike was only the first step towards the establishment of an interim government. According to Milivojevic, many opposition parliamentary groups will join it (the strike in the National Assembly).
"By the end of the week we will have a meeting with other structures and not only parliamentary groups and parties, but also other opposition groups about the further steps and activities we will take to get a solution called a transitional government. Because a transitional government is only a means to normal life in this country," he said, adding that the SA had a plan of action.
He also said that he was disturbed by the fact that Aleksandar Vučić was "ready to provoke incidents at the university".
"This worthless character who says "I will never give anything" is the same person who swore in church that he would never give Kosovo and Metohija. Who will never give up the Karlovac-Virovica policy. This is the same man who said 'I will not give Gazivode', who said 'I will not give Gasic'. Whenever this man says no to something and beats his cowardly chest, immediately after a few days he says yes. What worries me more is the fact that Aleksandar Vucic is prepared to provoke incidents at the university and that he is prepared to provoke the compromise of student protest. I warn the regime not to try to provoke these children, not to tie them to drugs, not to try to salvage its failing reputation at this time by transferring the crisis to Kosovo and Metohija or to the region. Let him continue to negotiate with those countries with which he is currently negotiating asylum. This is the main activity he should be doing," Milivojevic said, adding that he was deeply convinced that Vucic "is withdrawing like Bashar al-Assad."
Milivojevic, recalling the lawyers' decisions to stop work for seven days, as well as the calls for educators, said it is no small matter when two professions declare a general strike.
"Normal life has been called into question. We cannot endanger normal life because of one man's arbitrariness and omnipotence. And of course we invite educators, doctors, farmers, flight attendants, pilots, painters, masons, all people. This is where Serbia really needs to stop in order to free itself," he said, adding that "this cannot go on like this any longer and everyone must participate in the struggle for freedom." | BGNES
