Serbia wants Russia to increase gas supplies for the upcoming winter period, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on the sidelines of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in the United Arab Emirates.
"We have already asked for an increase in stocks we have increased our purchases," Vulin said.
"Although difficulties are expected in connection with gas payments, we are confident that supplies from Russia will go smoothly despite the possible suspension of transit through Ukraine from 2025," he added.
Serbia hopes to soon reach an agreement with Hungary on the implementation of the oil pipeline project, which will link the country to Russia's Druzhba.
Vulin specified that Serbia plans to complete a feasibility study by the end of this year.
Russian media noted that Serbia had earlier agreed on the construction of a 128-kilometer section of the pipeline, estimated to cost 100 million euros, between Novi Sad and the village of Aljo in Hungary, near the border. Construction will take at least two to three years. | BGNES
