Serbia blocks call for sanctions against Russia in Tirana Declaration

The declaration from today's meeting in Tirana between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of the Western Balkan countries will not include a call for sanctions against Russia at Belgrade's express request.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced this after his participation in the forum, N1 TV reported.
"We had a discussion with the participation of Turkish President Recep Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in video format, as well as with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Moldova, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and us from the Western Balkans, five plus one. We also talked about this in all day yesterday and this morning - discussions of this declaration prepared by Ukrainians and Europeans continued until a minute ago," said Vucic.
He emphasized that Serbia's request in the document to remove the parts referring to sanctions against Russia and its "malign" influence in the region has been fulfilled.
At the same time, Vucic thanked "friendly Ukraine" for not recognizing Kosovo. /BGNES
