"Any attack on Kosovo is an attack on Albania," Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said.
He said Albania would defend Kosovo if diplomatic options were exhausted and weapons were used, referring to strained relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
"If it comes to that, Albania will support Kosovo. There is no doubt that Albania has stood, stands, and will stand by Kosovo in any case, even if, God forbid, things get to the point where there is no more talk, and weapons will be used," Rama told ATV TV.
He pointed out that Albania is a member of NATO, that it has a special relationship with Kosovo, and that "any attack on Kosovo is an attack on Albania".
"Kosovo is not alone and has strategic allies without which it could not exist as a country. For this reason, we must think about the importance of Kosovo's allies," added the Albanian Prime Minister.
He said that leaders in Pristina and Tirana should think about the future to "become more respected" internationally.
According to him, the extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Kosovo is a step backward for Pristina./BGNES
