Today Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his colleague from North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova will discuss a probable official visit of Radev’s to our neighboring country.
The government of the Republic of North Macedonia has not yet left the election rhetoric. Let them return to realism.
This is what President Radev told journalists, hours before his meeting with the North Macedonian President Siljanovska, who is coming to Sofia for the opera production "Nabucco", BGNES reports.
It is true that music and culture are spheres that bring us closer, and Bulgaria has always been open to dialogue with the Republic of North Macedonia and expects this dialogue not only to help our cultural rapprochement, to boost economic cooperation, we expect this dialogue to finally resolve the open issues between us, Radev said.
He stressed that along with the signed agreements, the engagement of the leadership of North Macedonia with Corridor 8 will be a clear indicator of the real European ambitions of Skopje for more connectivity in the region.
"I expect that the expressed desire for dialogue and understanding by President Siljanovska will become a consistent policy of the North Macedonian government as well," Radev said and continued:
"The government of North Macedonia has not yet left the electoral rhetoric. Let them return to realism. Our relations will be built on the agreements that have been signed. We expect them to fulfil all the commitments it has made - both to us and to the European Union".
We are strictly observing the protocol, it is my turn to pay an official visit to North Macedonia, Radev said on the topic of today's visit of Siljanovska-Davkova, which is unofficial.
Asked whether there was already such an invitation, the President said that this issue would be clarified with the Macedonian head of state. | BGNES
