Public tender for the last railway section between North Macedonia and Bulgaria has been opened

The public tender for the construction of the railway section from the macedonia city of Kriva Palanka to the border with Bulgaria, as part of Pan-European Transport Corridor VIII, has been opened, the Office for Trade and Economic Affairs of North Macedonia announced.

The Macedonian side has secured funding of 560 million euros for the implementation of the project. A pre-accession grant from the EU - 61 million euros, the "Financial Framework for the Western Balkans" - 149 million euros and two loans of 175 million euros each from the EBRD and the EIB.

The public procurement foresees the detailed design and construction of a new railway section (section 3) consisting of 23.4 km of single track (total track length with sidings at the station and stop is approximately 27.5 km. ), with 60E1 tracks, concrete sleepers and ballast (except for long tunnels where slab is planned), including 22 tunnels (total length approx. 9 km.), 52 bridges/viaducts (total length approx. 5 km.), a railway station in Kriva Palanka and a bus stop in Sr. Zidilovo.
