Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti is on a working visit to North Macedonia today, August 5, BGNES reported.
During his stay in Skopje, Kurti will meet with Hristijan Mickoski, the office of the Macedonian Prime Minister confirmed.
The visit comes days after the incident at Skopje International Airport, which involved Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani. She was travelling in transit to Slovenia on August 1 when Macedonian airport security confronted her. Osmani subsequently asked for help from the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Afrim Gashi /from Albanian ethnicity - note ed./ who sent his bodyguards to the airport to protect her. Pristina accused Skopje of violating diplomatic rules and good neighbourly relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo sent a note of protest to the authorities in Skopje, demanding an immediate and full clarification of the case.
Macedonian Foreign Minister Timcho Mutsunski expressed regret for the incident. Mutsunski said he would not succumb to provocations and suggested that the security of the President of Kosovo and part of Afrim Gashi's team may have been responsible for the incident, who may have wanted to take revenge on TAV (airport security) officials. | BGNES
