Nearly 3/4 of Serbian citizens prefer BRICS to the EU, according to a new poll conducted by Belgrade-based media outlet New Serbian Political Thought.
71.4% of Serbian citizens support the country building stronger ties with the BRICS organisation, which includes Russia and China, while only 41.7% support the country becoming a member of the European Union.
The idea that Serbia should, if not join, at least get closer to the BRICS has been propagated in the country for years.
The Movement of Socialists of the US-sanctioned and President Aleksandar Vucic's crony, Aleksandar Vulin, took an official initiative in late September by submitting a motion for a resolution to the Assembly on Serbia's accession to BRICS. /BGNES
