North-Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, on the eve of the meeting of regional leaders in Skopje, through a publication on the "X" platform, stated that the Western Balkans belong to the EU, while repeating the call for unity and stability, "Albanian Post" reported.
"The place of all the countries of the region is in the EU, and we have the necessary potential and leadership to take bold decisions for a better future. All of us - in the Western Balkans and Europe, need unity and stability," Kovacevski wrote before the meeting.
The leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans will meet in the Macedonian capital on January 22 to discuss the future of the EU's enlargement policy and the plan to stimulate the countries of the region with 6 billion euros - a large package of financial assistance for the period 2024-2027.
The Macedonian Prime Minister will host the meeting, and in addition to him, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will also participate in it, and James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State, will also attend of the USA for Europe and Eurasia.
The region's six countries - Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia - are seeking to join the EU and are at various stages of achieving this goal, and the EU's Western Balkans Growth Plan includes investments for 6 billion euros and access to the internal market of the European bloc in certain areas./BGNES
