North Macedonia with a new president

The newly-elected president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, will be sworn in today at the parliament in Skopje, BGNES reported.

At 12:00. Siljanovska will make a solemn statement to the MPs of the old parliament, after which her term of office will begin.

The university professor will be Macedonia's sixth president and the first woman elected to the post.

Siljanovska won the presidential election in a second round of voting held on 8 May. She convincingly defeated the incumbent head of state Stevo Pendarovski, nominated by the Social Democratic Union /SDSM/.

In all likelihood, Siljanovska's first decree will be to hand a mandate to form a new macedonian government to VMRO-DPMNE leader Christian Mickoski. / BGNES
