After the positive assessment from Brussels, Montenegro looks confidently towards EU membership. Podgorica expects to become the 28th EU country in 2028, said Director General for EU Affairs Snezhana Radovic.
In a special interview for BNT, the General Director of Union Affairs Snezhana Radovic stated that Montenegro relies on Sofia's support.
"Podgorica has worked hard on all negotiation chapters and has already managed to close three of them. Since the presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018, Bulgaria has firmly taken the line of support for Montenegro for its accession to the community," said Snezhana Radovic.
Today she met with Bulgarian youth, participants in the pilot edition of the Mentoring Program "Bridge to New Opportunities".
Podgorica has been working hard on all negotiation chapters and has already managed to close three of them. Since the presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018, Bulgaria has firmly taken the line of support to Montenegro for its accession to the community, Snezhana Radovic said.
"It is normal that we get along better with Bulgaria than all other countries. We are from the same region, we have close culture and traditions. Your country is one of those that most strongly supports Montenegro on our way to the European Union and we are grateful for that," said Snezhana Radovic, Director of European Union Affairs.
According to Radović, the optimistic option is for Montenegro to become a member of the European Union in 2028.
"If we manage to maintain political stability in Montenegro, we can talk about accession in 2028. Already this year we can close 10 more of the negotiation chapters. But we see that such stability is difficult to achieve both in Montenegro and in Bulgaria ", added Snezhana Radovic.
The Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Angela Jakšić-Stojanović spoke about a new political era in Montenegro.
"We are a new government, and a large part of the people in it are young people. We started a new era for Montenegro and sorted out our priorities, with education being one of the main ones for us," commented Angela Jakšić-Stojanović./BGNES
