Greek firefighters have found the body of a German tourist who had been missing for two days on the island of Crete.
The man, in his 60s, had gone on a hike with family members on Friday, September 27, in the mountainous prefecture of Chania in western Crete. However, the group returned without him and alerted the authorities, ERT reported.
Firefighters and the Coast Guard have focused their search on the western coastal region.
"The tourist was found dead in a hard-to-reach place near the monastery of Agios Antonios in Chania," the fire department said in a statement.
At least eight tourists, most aged over 60, have been found dead across the Greek islands this summer, which has been extremely hot. | BGNES
