Lajcak to Vucic: Ohrid agreement charts the path to normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo

"The Ohrid Agreement of 2023 paves the way forward for normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo".

This is what Miroslav Lajcak, European envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, said during his meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The two spoke during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"At our last meeting in my current role (Lajcak's mandate expires on 1 February - ed.) with President Aleksandar Vucic, I spoke about the state of dialogue. I stressed that the Ohrid Agreement of 2023 paves the way forward towards normalisation. Further progress is in the interest of Serbia, Kosovo, the EU and their future," the Slovak diplomat wrote on the social network X.

Vucic wrote on his Instagram account that he had an "open conversation" with Lajcak about the security challenges facing the "Serbian people" in Kosovo.

BGNES recalls that the so-called Ohrid agreement is an annex to the main agreement between Serbia and Kosovo signed in 2013 in Brussels. The annex stipulates that Serbia should recognise Kosovo's independence and Pristina should establish an Association of Serb Municipalities (ASM) in northern Kosovo. | BGNES
