Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani thanked the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for the intervention in Kosovo 25 years ago, reported a BGNES reporter.
"25 years ago, NATO began its aerial bombing campaign - one of the most successful humanitarian interventions in history, which stopped the unspeakable horrors of genocide. We will always be grateful to the world leaders and participating nations who used politics to protect humanity." Kurti said on the X social network.
"Two years have passed since the death of US Secretary of State Madeline Albright, a zealous defender of American values abroad. Kosovo will always be extremely grateful for her advocacy for NATO intervention," the Prime Minister emphasized.
For her part, Osmani said: "25 years ago, our NATO allies united to end the brutality of the genocidal regime of Slobodan Milosevic."
"The intervention saved countless lives and laid the foundation for the free and democratic country we cherish today. Forever grateful. Thank you, NATO!" she added.
In 1999, NATO launched a 78-day campaign of airstrikes against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to force Serbian dictator and war criminal Slobodan Milosevic to end his brutal repression of Kosovo Albanians and withdraw his military and police forces from Kosovo.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, established later, proved that the Yugoslav forces were responsible for crimes against humanity and massive violations of the human rights of the Kosovo population, including during the intervention./BGNES
