Former Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis has died at the age of 88, state broadcaster ERT News reported.
Simitis had no specific health problems.
A former prime minister and one of the founders of the socialist Panghela Socialist Movement Party (PASOK), Simitis left his mark on the country's political life.
He succeeded Andreas Papandreou as PASOK leader and was Prime Minister of Greece from 1996 to 2004.
