Former head of Macedonian services Sasho Miyalkov with a Ferrari for millions in Monte Carlo

The former director of the Macedonian special services Sasho Miyalkov spent the New Year and Christmas holidays in the elite Monte Carlo resort, reports BGNES.

Miyalkov was the uninterruptible head of Macedonia's Security and Counterintelligence Directorate (DBC). He is a cousin of former Macedonian prime minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski, who ruled the Republic of Macedonia in a one-man authoritarian rule for 10 years.

Miyalkov was recorded on video a few days ago at the moment he got out of a Ferrari car, the Macedonian news website Skopje1 reported.

Miyalkov pleaded guilty in the "Imperia" case for involvement in a criminal association and illegal acquisition and concealment of property. After an agreement with the prosecution, he received a sentence of three years in prison and confiscation of property worth about 3 million euros. His assets were later valued at almost twice that amount. Last year, he was released early from prison on the condition that he did not commit a crime until April 25, 2025. Miyalkov served his sentence in Struga prison instead of Idrizovo, having changed his address from Skopje to Ohrid shortly before going behind bars.

BGNES recalls that in December last year the US State Department sanctioned former North Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi and Court of Appeals Judge Enver Bedjeti. Washington claimed that Grubi and Bedjeti accepted bribes to undermine the legal proceedings related to the criminal conviction of Sasho Miyalkov. | BGNES
