Earlier on Sunday, Greece ordered the evacuation of hospitals and homes near Athens as wildfires spread despite "superhuman" efforts to fight the flames.
One person has died in the huge wildfires in the suburbs of Athens, Greece.
The body, believed to be that of a woman, was found in a shop in the town of Vrilissia, north of Athens, the fire service told the BBC.
Thousands of people were evacuated across Greece after firefighters warned homes, businesses and schools were at risk, with wildfires expected to continue today. Fire service spokesman Colonel Vassilios Vatrakogiannis said that while there was no longer any active fire front in northeastern Attica, which also includes parts of Athens, there were still "very active local wildfires", mostly around the towns of Marathon and Pentelli.
The European Union said four countries - Italy, France, the Czech Republic and Romania - were sending aid at Greece's request. | BGNES
