EU: Belgrade declared independent journalism a public enemy

The government in Belgrade has launched a massive video campaign to smear independent journalists in Serbia.

This was stated by the Vice President of the European Commission (EC) Vera Jourova, quoted by N1 TV.

"The European Union condemns all attacks or threats against journalists," Jourova said.

She promised that her cabinet and the European Commission would monitor the situation in Serbia and respond by strongly condemning any attack.

"The situation in which politicians point to journalists as public enemies always leads to an increase in the intensity of threats and violence on the Internet, and in some cases it even leads to actual violence," said the EC vice president. I BGNES
